This post is all about fall bucket list ideas.
Exciting Fall Bucket List Ideas:
1) Go Apple Picking
You can’t go wrong with apple picking in the fall. It’s a classic activity for this season and you can do so much with the apples you pick on this trip. Besides that, apple orchards are generally beautiful and will get you in the fall spirit.
If you want to go apple picking, simply search for apple orchards in the area and look at the hours and rules for the place you’re thinking of going to.
Consider wearing layers because you’ll probably be doing a lot of walking and it can get hot. Also, try to avoid wearing white sneakers because they’re definitely going to get dirty (I speak from experience).
2) Host a Bonfire
This is a fun one if you enjoy outdoor activities. I typically associate bonfires with summer, but it might even be better in the fall. Since it’s typically cooler outside, the fire can warm you up and be cozier.
So invite some friends and build a fire in your backyard or at a park. To keep the theme, you could tell scary stories, roast marshmallows, drink cider, etc.
3) Explore a Corn Maze
I’ve personally never done a corn maze before so it’s been on my fall bucket list for a while now. However, if you’ve watched movies that take place in the fall, you’ve probably seen the characters exploring a corn maze.
It’s like one of those basic activities for the fall that’s conveniently in their town. Plus, itΒ seems fun especially if you’re with the right company.
4) Burn Fall Candles
Fall scents like pumpkin, cinnamon, and apple are so delicious you’ll want your whole space to smell that way all season. If you’re not comfortable burning candles, a good alternative would be an air freshener.
5) Carve or Paint Pumpkins
When it comes to carving pumpkins, if you want to save yourself some time and effort, you can use a pumpkin carving tool kit. Especially if you’ve never done this before, the user manual and tools would make the process smoother.
If you’re more artistically inclined, go pumpkin picking and started painting. You can look on Pinterest to get ideas on different patterns or designs depending on the aesthetic you’re going for.
6) Drink/Make Apple Cider
Maybe you’ve drunk apple cider before, but have you ever tried to make it? It could be an interesting experience, particularly if you know you’re not good at following recipes like me.
Making apple cider is also a creative way to use the apples you might’ve gathered after visiting an orchard.
I was looking at recipes/videos and it genuinely doesn’t look too complicated. The recipe on Delish seemed like the most appealing so you can check it out here if you’re interested too.
7) Go On a Hayride
The hayrides I’ve been on were nice experiences, despite being bumpy, because of fall’s effortlessly beautiful scenery.
You can usually find a hayride at an apple orchard. So if you do decide to go apple picking, it’s worth looking into if the orchard you visit also offers this activity.
8) Jump in a Pile of Leaves
I feel like this is the fall equivalent of dancing in the rain. It’s something that feels very much like you’ve gotta try it at least once in your life. So why not jump in a pile of leaves this year?
To do this, you should gather the leaves on your back or front yard in as big a pile as it can get to. If you don’t have enough leaves in your yard, doing this at a park might work well.
9) Have a Movie Night
Movie nights are the best because who doesn’t love a good movie, especially a seasonal one. I look forward to the holiday season so I can watch my favorite movies again like Nightmare Before Christmas and Halloweentown.
This is also a great opportunity to relax and take time off guilt-free. It can easily become a self-care activity, but it’s important to immerse yourself in the movie and be in the moment.

10) Visit a Haunted House
Visiting haunted houses or going on a haunted hayride can be exciting, even if you don’t scare easily.
11) Decorate For Fall
It’s true when they say your room reflects your state of mind so if you decorate it, it’ll be easier to get in the spirit. You could decorate for Halloween, decorate using fall colors, or stick to general fall aesthetics.
You can do as much or as little decorating as you want, but you should try to decorate the spaces you’re mostly in. My favorite places to get fall-themed decorations are Target and HomeGoods.
12) Make S’mores
Whether you decide to make s’mores outdoors or indoors, it’s such a comfort snack that you should have at least once this season.
13) Bake Apple or Pumpkin Pie
Even if you’re not much of a baker, fall is a great time to start learning because apple and pumpkin pies are so good.
Also, it’s right in time for Thanksgiving and homemade pies are the best.
14) Create/Pick Your Halloween Costume
It’s never too early to decide what you’re gonna be for Halloween this year. If you run out of ideas or don’t like anything you’re coming up with, I recommend looking on Pinterest for ideas. Another thing you could do to change things up is if you typically dress up solo, maybe do a costume theme with a group of friends.
I’ve never created my own Halloween costume because DIY isn’t really my thing. However, this is a great idea if you do like creative projects.
If you have a bunch of old costumes in your closet from past years, consider using the fabrics to create an entirely new costume. This way, you can save money and have a unique outfit for Halloween this year!
15) Eat a Caramel Apple
If you’ve never had a caramel apple, this fall is your chance to try one!
You could even make them yourself if you like to bake. Idea: use the apples you picked to make caramel apples.
16) Cozy Up With a Book and Hot Chocolate
When the weather begins to get cooler, it becomes the perfect time to just stay in and get cozy. I especially love it when the weather is too cloudy, foggy, or when it rains/snows outside because it makes that cup of hot chocolate taste so much better.
I mean, imagine trying to cozy up with a book or your favorite movie and drinking hot chocolate in the summer?? That doesn’t even sound right.
Fall is the beginning of colder weather since last winter so make sure to add this to your bucket list!
17) Admire the Fall Foliage on a Walk
18) Go Apple Bobbing
This would be a fun activity to do if you like to be outdoors and with a group of people. Simply fill up a basin or wide bucket with water and place apples in it.
Whoever’s bobbing for apples is only allowed to use their teeth. Using your hands or arms is considered cheating so make sure the players have them behind their backs!
19) Watch a Football Game
Fall is the start of football season and Friday Night Lights. If you aren’t the biggest football fan but you want to see a game at least once, I’d recommend going to a local game.
20) Eat Candy Corn
A lot of people say that candy corn is terrible, so that discouraged me from ever trying it. However, when I did get around to tasting it, I actually liked it! I missed out on eating candy corn during the fall season for years.
If you’ve never tried it, it doesn’t hurt to do so at least once. I mean, you might end up loving it.
21) Listen to Aesthetic Autumn Music
I only discovered this last year but it’s the best thing for music lovers. There’s basically an aesthetic for everything these days and that includes seasons.
If you find yourself not feeling fall this year, listen to some aesthetic autumn music and your mood will probably change for the better.
22) Throw a Friendsgiving
Friendsgiving might turn out to be better than Thanksgiving. You can’t choose your family, but you can choose your friends.
So don’t forget to throw a Friendsgiving this year. Invite a couple of friends and make/buy your best dish.
23) Take a Scenic Drive
If you live in an area that’s full of nature, taking a scenic drive this fall would be perfect.
It’s one thing to take a drive and be distracted, and another thing to focus on your surroundings and take it in. With that in my mind, if you intend to take a scenic drive, make it worthwhile.
24) Enjoy a Pumpkin Spice Latte
One of my favorite aspects, if not my favorite aspect of fall, is that the food is so flavorful and comforting. Make sure you grab a pumpkin spice latte or your favorite fall drink. Enjoy it, because it’s not gonna be around all year long.
25) Give Thanks
The holiday season is a time for giving thanks. It could be for family, friends, opportunities, or simply being alive.Β Practicing gratitude is a healthy habit to have even if it’s not fall. It reminds you to be grateful for what you have in your life instead of what you wish to have. In turn, giving thanks makes you appreciate the real state of things and welcomes something more.
Have a great autumn!
