Lip products can be hit or miss, especially if you’re lips dry easily. I’ve tried a lot of new lip products for dry lips over the years and most are disappointing. However, when you find products that are moisturizing and long-lasting, it changes your whole routine.
I’m sharing a list of the best lipsticks, balms, and glosses for dry lips. Trust me, you are not gonna want to part ways with these products once you try them. Most are effortless, hassle-free, and affordable.
As someone who is not a big makeup person but has dry lips, I often fell into the trap of trading costs for good quality products. I appreciate products that are simple to use and still look amazing.

Best Lip Products for Dry Lips:
1) Glossier Balm Dotcom
Glossier’s Balm Dotcom comes in eight flavors: original, rose, cherry, mint, birthday, coconut, mango, and berry. The lip balm is packaged in a cute tube without an applicator. Some of these flavors leave a noticeable tint. If you prefer not to use your finger to apply your lip products, the balm dotcoms may not be for you.
However, this is such a moisturizing lip product. I would describe it as a deluxe vaseline. The tubes might look small but they can last for such a long time, I rarely have to repurchase them.
If you’re looking for something that can double as a lip balm and lip tint, I would suggest the flavors cherry, berry, and rose. I think those colors have the most noticeable tints. It looks like your lips but better, very subtle.
2) Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Lip Balm
Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Lip Balm is the perfect lip product to put everywhere. You need one of these in your car, your purse, your room, etc. They’re inexpensive and their small sizes make them even more convenient. I’ve purchased a pack of three and they last for a while.
These lip balms are untinted but have SPF and Vitamin E. They’re swivel stick applicators and come in thinner and larger sizes (width-wise).
It’s no secret that cocoa butter is moisturizing and these do that common idea justice. This is the type of product you apply and you don’t feel the need to reapply for hours. In other words, a god-sent.
3) Burt Bee’s Lip Shine
I used to use those Victoria’s Secret lip glosses you’d find while you’re waiting to check out. I guess I was drawn by how shimmery they looked, but they had the worst texture. Putting them on made my lips even drier, they weren’t moisturizing at all. Pretty and essentially useless.
I grew out of those lip glosses and gave up trying to make something work when it simply didn’t. In my new search, I found the Burt Bee’s Lip Shine Collection.
There are several colors to choose from and if you gravitate towards shades of red, you’ll love the color “Pucker”. The bottles last long as well and the shine isn’t too overwhelming. It’s a beautiful, moisturizing gloss.
4) EOS Lip Balm
EOS lip balms take me back to middle school. EOS lip balms and Uggs were the things everyone was religiously buying and using. Of course, this is when I first tried it because it’s that time in your life you most want to be like everyone else.
It wasn’t the worst thing, the pull to fit in, because at least I found another lip balm that wasn’t horrific for people with dry lips. The only thing I will say is I find the egg shape unsuitable for keeping with you on hand. I like to carry a balm with me and that shape just doesn’t fit with most pockets.
When it comes to lip balms for dry lips, I feel like a mint flavor is ideal. If you find yourself constantly reapplying, your lips may start to burn. However, mint-flavored balms do a nice job of remaining soothing.
5) Baby Lips
This was my lip balm obsession in ninth grade. I thought it was cool how a lip balm could double as lipstick and still be moisturizing. At the time, I just wasn’t used to that, I was used to crappy glittery lip products.
This balm is fitting if you don’t want to spend too much on makeup, but still want the product to be effective. You can readily find this at your local drug store.
The only shade I ever tried of Baby Lips was “Cherry Me”, but based on reviews, there doesn’t seem to be much of a discrepancy between the shades.
6) Vaseline
Good old Vaseline. Essentially, you can’t go wrong with this product. I couldn’t create a list full of moisturizing lip products for dry lips and not include petroleum jelly.
Not only is it useful for dry lips, but it’s multi-purposed and convenient. I recommend buying a large size just to keep handy and those tiny travel-size ones to carry around.
Tip: leave the container of petroleum jelly in the sun for a couple of hours to melt. It tends to become smoother after this because sometimes it can be stiff from sitting in a store.
7) Glossier Ultralip
This is my new favorite lip product for dry lips. I was hesitant to try Glossier’s Ultralip because I’m not a fan of their Generation G lipstick. The latter was very drying and splotchy for me.
If you’ve tried Glossier’s Balm Dotcoms, I’d say this is like a mix of that and the Generation G lipstick. It’s moisturizing due to the balm which amends the problem with the Generation G lipstick.
It comes in nine shades currently, ranging from reds, purples, and browns. I want to try them all because I love the texture of this product. Although, I am partial to “Cachet”, a striking reddish-dark brown shade.
8) Essence Shine Gloss
This is probably the most underrated lip product on this list, but that has little to do with its quality. If you don’t want to hide the fact that you’re wearing lip gloss, this gloss is for you. It is very shiny without being sticky.
The Essence Shine Gloss is also lightweight. It goes on smoothly and doesn’t require much from the tube to be noticeable. The clear shade is a great option and if you’re looking for color, I recommend “strawberry red”.
9) C.O. Bigelow Mentha Lip Tint
These lip tints are glossy without being sticky and they’re very soothing to wear for long periods. You get gloss, color, and moisture all in one product which I appreciate.
I also love how most shades come with mint in the formula. This allows you to reapply multiple times without your lips getting irritated.
In my experience, they’re hard to find in person. At least the shades I want are. I recommend the plum mint shade and the clear mint shade.
